Challenges Faced: A dispute was escalating due to ignored provisions of the NEC contract and significant contractual shortcomings on both sides.

Resolution: An contract expert was appointed to analyse the situation and produce a comprehensive report. This report identified the provisions that should have been allowed and disallowed if the contract had been properly administered. This report served as the starting point for negotiations.

Outcome: Through a series of meetings involving the project managers, client, and contractor, an amicable settlement was reached. The settlement amount was acceptable to both parties, resolving the dispute effectively and the works were completed to a high standard.
