Energy from Waste Facility – Aberdeen

Challenges Faced: Delays caused by the pandemic impacted the procurement process, particularly affecting key subcontract packages. There were also significant cost implications due to the escalation of material prices.

Resolution: A team was assigned to manage the preparation of an initial report to assess the contractor’s contractual entitlement for time and money due to the pandemic-induced delays. Following the initial assessment, a detailed delay analysis was conducted to illustrate the impact of Covid-19 on the procurement process. The team also calculated the cost impact of these delays and the price escalation of materials.

Outcome: The findings, including the detailed delay analysis and the cost impact assessment, were presented to the Authority. This presentation supported the consideration and award of additional costs to address the pandemic-related delays and material price increases, ensuring a fair resolution for all parties involved.
